The Eyeslicer Halloween Special

Join C3Lab and the Charlotte Film Society for their latest movie in the Back Alley Film Series - The Eyeslicer Halloween Special, on Thursday, October 25th at 7:30 pm.

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: From an X-rated Halloween party hookup to a coming of age story set on the eve of Ted Bundy’s execution; from a documentary about pumpkin carving and misogyny to a supercut about the genered dangers of the bathtub; from a cursed stand-up comedy set to a woman (Carrie Coon) trapped inside a Red Lobster commercial; from a John Carpenter homage (featuring a cameo by Carpenter himself) to a sequel to The Eyesliver’s now famous Gwilliam, The Eyeslicer Halloween Special is an experience like no other - a deranged, proudly transgressive anthology carving out a bold new space in the Midnight movie genre.

$5 for CFS Members / $10 for Non-Members   Memberships are available for purchase at all screenings for $12.  For more information, go the charlottefilmsociety.

Iconography: works by Micah Sherrill

Join Gallery C3 for a new exhibit featuring iconic works by Asheville artist Micah Sherrill on Friday, November 2nd from 7 to 10pm.

When I finished high school, my uncle sent me a Diane Arbus books with an inscription: "Remember that the only thing worth photographing, or painting, or even looking at...is the human face." That statement has been an echo in my mind as I have made my work. The face has been central to what I find interesting and continue to explore. There is always much to experiment with, and the face is a wealthy foundation to improvise from. - Micah Sherrill

Highlight Gallery C3 as one of the must see locations for the November South End Gallery Crawl! Alcohol proceeds benefit Charlotte Community Toolbank.

Dirty Laundry

You are invited to SAY IT, SEW IT, and AIR IT OUT.

Airing Out the Dirty Laundry is an ongoing, collaborative, traveling art exhibit created by women who believe in equality and in our shared responsibility to create a more just world.

It is about strength, unity, and resistance of oppression, injustice and exclusion.  All Cis Women, Trans Women, Trans-femme and Non-binary Folx that believe in this purpose are invited to participate by creating a piece of "dirty laundry."

Dirty laundry is a visual representation of our stories. The strength, beauty, meaning, and power of the collective work is created by the diversity and intersectionality reflected in these stories, which are joined together on a clothesline.

The paper or fabric that is sewn over each piece of dirty laundry flows freely and is meant to be lifted (either by the viewer’s hand and/or the wind) to invite, encourage, and continue dialog and conversations about our experiences as women.

AOTDL is about revealing untold or hidden ideas, opinions, stories, and beliefs and it's about the beauty and unity that is unveiled when these are joined together on a clothesline.

It's about valuing and protecting and emphasizing individual stories and expeirences.

There is nothing "dirty" about these stories, but we have been told by other people and our culture that some people do not want to hear them.
