Collaged Portrait Painting Workshop
Come explore texture, print, pattern, shape and light in this workshop where we experiment with collage as a basis for painted portraits. Class is open from beginner to intermediate experience. Working in acrylic colors with glue, tape, magazine clippings, recyclables, jewelry, found objects, anything you can think of!
This course will be instructed by local artist, Breanna Stallings. "Bree" is a native North Carolinian artist, illustrator, writer and activist. Graduating from Queens University of Charlotte with a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art/Creative Writing, her works of art, poetry, and mixed-media collage have been covered and published in various print and online magazines including Creative Loafing, Charlotte Viewpoint, Indigo Rising, The Borgen Project, Society Charlotte, Charlotte Magazine and others. Her painting "Supernova" was chosen for the Charlotte Art Pop Billboard Project in 2015. C3Lab is fortunate to have Bree as one of our resident artists creating in our space!
Included in class: collage materials, paint, brushes and a 11 x 14 canvas.
Please bring: a photo portrait to be used for reference (Single person, please! Up close and in color work best), any collage materials you wish to incorporate, and a larger canvas.
