Did you know? There’s an ancient, mathematical system of sacred knowledge that has been lost for thousands of years. The secret is that it’s been hidden in plain sight!

The same 52 card deck used to play Poker and Solitaire, is none other than The Book of Life, the same Book of Life referenced in the Bible. And based on the numbers of our date of birth, we are each dealt 13 Life Cards. These Cards reveal our Soul’s Blueprint. In our Life Cards, we can read all aspects of our lives, including our…

  • Life’s Purpose

  • Life Lessons

  • Lifetime Reward

Discover your own hidden potential in this extraordinary workshop being held on Tuesday, April 23rd, 7pm. This is the only workshop in North Carolina, so reserve your seat today! Color Through Chaos by Jessica Albrecht

“I picked up a paintbrush ten years ago, without any real training or intent, and it changed my life and my perception of the world around me. The freedom of color and expression spilled into my everyday life.  Everything around me became covered in paint. My house, my clothes, my body, everything I owned was a daily reminder of where my heart was. I made a conscious decision to not hold back. To let every piece of honesty that I had in my bones out on a canvas, or whatever object was available to paint. Now, I almost never use a paint brush. I throw paint.  I've used everything from my hands to a whip to explore new possibilities. I paint outside. It moves me to be close to nature, and the freedom that comes with it. My entire patio, grill, siding of my house, is covered in paint. I listen to the loudest rock music I can find, and then completely let go. I am moved by color, space, words, architecture, the female form, beautiful and strong women, and people who are unapologetically themselves.  At the end of the day, it's all funny.  All of it. I try to combine all of these things, in a raw, and honest way. I mostly use spray paint and acrylic paint. I find beauty in chaos and color, and that's where it all falls into place for me. “

During the Southend Gallery Crawl, stop at Gallery C3 to view Jessica’s final pieces! We are happy to announce that Behind the Bar will be selling their specialty cocktails at the opening night.

Where I’m From - A Bree Stallings Experience

This work delineates from her current work and focuses around new practices of installation and experiential creation. The work, installed inside a 6,000 square foot former industrial warehouse, will explore the places in which she's lived: her current home now (in the first year she's lived alone), the childhood homes she was raised in (none of which still exist or belong to family through foreclosure, and a lack of generational wealth) and more abstractly, the primal living areas in which we all enter and navigate the world: her own body and her mother's body.

In all families, there are themes of truth and identity: what do we celebrate? What do we keep covert and hidden? Who makes those decisions and why? In this ever-evolving mythical story space, characters emerge: the migrant mother from Japan (her grandmother), the red clay potter (her grandfather), and the ones without (her parents). The space will feature miniature hanging viewing stations, a "wishing wall", a length of fishnet from which will hang hundreds of her family's mementos, photos, letters, secrets and tales. There will be an open invite for the show participants to do the same, an altar of sorts.

On opening night, renowned poet and spoken word artist Jay Ward will perform his one man show "Things I Would Say" about growing up biracial in the South. More community events revolving around displacement and reclamation to follow.

Conversations with Nature: A Multisensory Art Event

Join Gallery C3 for a new exhibit featuring work by Crista Cammaroto, Kimberly McFadden Hutchinson, Rebecca Jones, Elizabeth Palmisano, Nicole Schoepflin, Joann Galarza Vega, Sara Woodmansee on Friday, March 1st from 7 to 10pm.

To have a conversation is to listen and communicate, to exchange ideas. Nature is teeming with shapes and sounds, beauty and design. It has history, medicine, cycles and knowledge. Nature has been personified and humanized: Mother Nature, the laws of nature, human nature. By paying attention to nature, we are rewarded with inspiration and learn more about the world, and ourselves. The artworks in this show are created from materials from nature and/or inspired by nature. What does nature communicate to you? What do you learn about yourself by listening?

Highlight Gallery C3 as one of the must see locations for the first South End Gallery Crawl of 2019! Behind the Bar will be selling nature-inspired specialty cocktails! Alcohol proceeds benefit Charlotte Community Toolbank.
C3 Artist studios will be open during the March Gallery Crawl so drop by to explore more local art and chat with the artists!

Iconography: works by Micah Sherrill

Join Gallery C3 for a new exhibit featuring iconic works by Asheville artist Micah Sherrill on Friday, November 2nd from 7 to 10pm.

When I finished high school, my uncle sent me a Diane Arbus books with an inscription: "Remember that the only thing worth photographing, or painting, or even looking at...is the human face." That statement has been an echo in my mind as I have made my work. The face has been central to what I find interesting and continue to explore. There is always much to experiment with, and the face is a wealthy foundation to improvise from. - Micah Sherrill
