ELIGIBITY

Visual artists working as a collaborative duo, 21 years of age and older, involved in various artistic mediums are encouraged to apply for the annual fellowship program. Two artists will be selected to share two semi-private studios to continue their own professional practice as they progress through the arts fellowship program.

This fellowship is dedicated to the professional development of each artist without biases of artist prestige or status.

The nature of the program is semi-formal with an expectation for artists to work in their 24-hour access studio space a minimum of 20 hours per week; participate in professional educational discussions, hands-on workshop assistance, and be fully integrated with the professional arts fabrication team.

Artists must be able and willing to present themselves to and work closely with various sized groups of people.

Artists must have an understanding or complete willingness to learn and work with tools, machines or any other necessary equipment to gain full understanding of the design+build process.

Participants are expected to respect the working facilities and other studio artists within the space.

There is no obligation to teach or lecture, but participants are encouraged to get connected to the local community and share their professional practice with other creatives within the space and the local art community.

The C3Lab Fellowship Program is NOT a non-profit based organization, but is an incredible commitment to the arts community by a creative business who believes in the power that art can engage, inspire, and enhance our environments. The ultimate goal towards the 18-month-long program is to assist the artists with the process of researching, applying, designing, fabricating and installing a a public art project to utilize for their professional portfolio.

To be truly successful, artists must be fully immersed in learning the entire process and be willing to get their hands dirty to completely understand the entire design + build artistic objective.

The two fellows chosen must commit to creating a positive and respectful working environment between each other and for other creatives within the studio space by adhering to the etiquette rules and policies set forth in the fellowship handbook.

SELECTION

The chose artist duo will be evaluated based on detailed answers to the fellowship application questionnaire and 3-7 images/video(s) of their best works that represent their artistic vision, their professional work integrity and willingness to be an integral part of a real-life arts team.

Artists will be selected by an invited committee of independent jurors by the outstanding quality of their work, their commitment and dedication to learning and working alongside a team and their “statement of intent” to be selected for this unique public arts opportunity. Our jurors will be paid an honorarium for their time, talent, and expertise so there is an application fee for each applicant submission.

Fellows are responsible for their own art supplies, transportation to and from the fellowship program and housing during the 18-month program. Tools, machines, and other equipment will be available for fellows to utilize within ACSM workday schedule. Participants must be available and fully present for all regularly scheduled educational days and must utilize studio space 80% of their time during the entire fellowship program dates.
